Software Made in Germany

Why we develop in Germany – and what it means for our customers.

A Conscious Decision

Software development can be sourced from anywhere in the world today. Offshore teams in Asia, nearshore in Eastern Europe, freelancers on all continents. Hourly rates are often lower. Availability is high. There are good reasons why many companies take this route. We do not.

Not out of principle. But because what we do requires a different approach. We do not build individual features that can be described in a ticket and processed remotely. We develop the operational system of a company. And that can only be done with a level of proximity, understanding, and quality that we can best deliver from Germany.

What "Made in Germany" Means to Us

For us, "Made in Germany" is not a label or a marketing term. It is a way of working.

Quality as Craftsmanship

Good software is not a product of chance. It is created through clean architecture, well-thought-out data models, consistent testing, and the ambition to build things right – not just fast. We come from an engineering culture. You can see this in our work. We build systems that can last in the long term. Not software that needs to be rewritten after six months because the foundation is not right.

Proximity That Makes a Difference

Same time zone. Same language. Same understanding of business processes, industry dynamics, and the reality of mid-market companies in Germany. When we talk to a managing director about scheduling, order control, or resource planning, we do not have to start from scratch. We know the context. We understand the mindset. We know how collaboration works in German companies – with all its strengths and peculiarities.

This may sound obvious. But it is not, when your development team is in a different time zone and has a different work culture.

Collaboration Instead of Order Processing

Our way of working requires close collaboration. Interviews with specialists. Workshops with the project team. Short paths, quick decisions, direct communication. It works best when all parties speak the same language – in both literal and figurative senses.

We do not accept a briefing and deliver the code. We understand your company, design the architecture, and develop together with you. This requires proximity. Not always physically – but culturally, linguistically, and in how we collaborate.

The Offshore Invoice

Offshore development looks cheap on paper. Lower hourly rates, large teams, quick availability. This can work for clearly defined, isolated tasks. For what we do, it usually does not. And here is the reason:

  Offshore  Made in Germany
Hourly Rate  Lower  Higher
Communication Effort  High – Time difference, language barrier, cultural differences  Low – Direct communication without translation losses
Understanding of Context  Needs to be built up – often over months  Is there – same market, same business culture
Quality of Architecture  Varies greatly – often feature-driven instead of systemic  Systemic thinking from the start
Rework and Corrections  Often – because requirements were not properly understood  Rarely – because the collaboration is close enough
Total Costs Over 2 Years  Often higher than expected  Predictable and transparent

The lower hourly rate is often an illusion when it is eaten up by higher communication costs, misunderstandings, rework, and lack of architectural depth. Especially for complex systems – and operational systems are inherently complex – the math rarely turns out cheaper in the end.

Data Protection as a Foundation, Not an Add-On Feature

German companies work with sensitive data. Customer data, employee data, contract data, operational metrics. GDPR is not an optional extra – it is mandatory. And it is strict. When you have software developed in Germany, you have:

🔒  Developers who consider GDPR from the very beginning – not as an afterthought
🇪🇺  Data processing within the EU – no transfer to insecure third countries
📋  Legal security in contracts – German law, German jurisdiction
🛡️  Architecture that integrates data protection – Privacy by Design, not Privacy by Hope

This is not a competitive advantage we have chosen. It is the standard we adhere to – because our customers deserve it and because it is the right thing to do.

Value Creation That Lasts

Every decision for software development in Germany is also a decision for the economic location. For jobs here. For competence building here. For value creation that does not leak away. This is not a main argument – but it is a nice side effect. When you, as a mid-market company in Germany, have your operational system built in Germany, you strengthen not only your own company. You strengthen the ecosystem in which you operate.

Our Conviction

We could develop cheaper. We could outsource parts of the development, lower hourly rates, and appear more competitive on paper. We do not do it. Because quality, proximity, and understanding are not negotiable variables for us. They are the foundation for building systems that can support companies in the long term.

Technology should free people. This is only achievable with software that you can trust. That is built cleanly. That is developed by people who understand what it is for.
We transform operationally complex mid-market companies into tech firms. Made in Germany.
